The Sun is in Pisces conjunct the Tail of the Dragon and the Moon is in the sign of Capricorn. We might be revisiting time-tested ideas that prove to be better than their modern versions. Something from the past could come back for revision or be revived. We could also find ourselves appreciating the craftsmanship of our ancestors and be inspired by the quality of objects from the past.
With the Moon in Capricorn, it’s a good day to get work done and find some discipline. Since the Sun in Pisces and Neptune will receive a sextile from the Moon in Capricorn, work that requires a certain amount of creativity and inspiration should benefit.
Here is an excerpt from the BookCosmos and Psyche where Richard Tarnas explores the meaning of Neptune. Neptune turns direct on November 18 2015, after a 5 month retrograde.
The Neptune archetype is also associated with illusion and delusion, deception and self-deception, confusion and ambiguity, projection, maya. It rules both the positive and negative meanings of enchantment-both poetic vision and wishful fantasy, mysticism and madness, higher realities and delusional unreality. It informs all that is paradoxically united. It transcends and confuses attempts to maintain strict boundaries, definitions, and dichotomies. It is the archetypal principle of the multidimensional and the metaempirical, the metaphorical and multivalent.
The Neptune principle has a special relation to the stream of consciousness and the oceanic depths of the unconscious, to all nonordinary states of consciousness, to the realm of dream and visions, images and reflections. It governs myth and religion, poetry and the arts, inspiration and aspiration, the experience of divinity, the numinous, the ineffable, the sacred and mysterious. Its domain is that of meaning rather than matter, the symbolic rather than the literal. It is associated with the realm of soul and spirit, the transpersonal domain, the collective unconscious, the anima mundi, the archetypal dimension of life, the realm of the Platonic Ideas. More broadly, Neptune is regarded as that which ultimately governs all mode of consciousness, in the sense of encompassing all the gods and archetypes that inform and shape how one experience the world, both outer and inner.
The Moon just entered the earth sign of Capricorn and the Sun is moving in the last degrees of Virgo, an earth sign also.
We are working towards something. We have a vision. Each actions are deliberately calculated. It can feel a bit heavy but we know that each step is contributing to the outcome. The process is important. So we apply careful attention without becoming overly critical. Each movement is a contribution to our ambitious goal.
There is a serious quality to the day as we prepare for the upcoming equinox, the change of season. We can feel a shift is coming but for today we put our head down and focus on the task at hand in order to slowly bring the dream into form.
Surrender your mind
To the universal visions.
a language that can only be understood
There is a smoke screen between your awareness and the truth.
Go to music and let the message settle in other ways
Prayers at dawn and love for breakfast.
Keeping the ideal in your minds eyes
A spiritual renewal for the unallocated soul
A daily offering to continuity
Standing at the edge – there is no ending
Subjective thinking, impressions, strange moods, last night’s dreams left an imprint on today’s light. With the Moon in Pisces conjunct Neptune, Mercury in Gemini and Mars newly in the sign of the twins, we have a confusing mixture. Quick blasts of insights and inspiration combined with a vague feeling of déjà vu. Who’s tricking who? The colour of the day: Ultramarine
What do you imagine in your minds eye when you hear the word: collective unconscious?
We all have our ideas of the underlying layer that regulates our existence. Some words that comes to mind are: the field, the energy, the chi, prana, source, God, connecting all that is alive like a giant psychic octopus with millions of tentacles. Accessing this ”flow” can be done through meditation, yoga, dreams, drugs, or anything that will take you outside of the ”rational linear views” of reality. Some people (usually with a strong Neptune emphasis in their chart) have permanent access to this oceanic landscape. The lure of this all encompassing wisdom is strong in some, and lifetimes can be spent trying to return to the comfort of the dream.
We are currently building up to a square (90º angle) between Mercury in Gemini and Neptune in Pisces. The square will be exact tomorrow May 9th but we can consider this aspect LIVE.
Mercury is also in it’s shadow phase, preparing to go retrograde on May 18/19.
Mercury is responsible for the incoming information, the way we communicate to others and in general our logical thinking process. Neptune, the great dissolver of boundaries is concerned with spiritualizing our experience. Spreading a dense layer of smoke around the sharp contours of reality, so that we can see with the eyes of the heart.
Today and tomorrow, watch for confusion around words and messages not being delivered properly. Getting your point across might be pointless. What you say might get distorted by the time it reaches someone else’s ears. Confusion, mental fatigue, fuzzy thinking are possible side effects.
The prescription for a Mercury-Neptune square could be to: Let go of the usual dualistic perception (Gemini) of: me/others – good/bad. Dropping our linear ways of thinking or doing for a more meditative outlook. Allowing the higher wisdom to flow in and soak our experience. Listening to music, going to the art gallery, watching a movie, creating, writing poetry.
The Moon in Capricorn today might feel like you have mountains to climb, important things to accomplish, but you will have to pass through a dense layer of clouds to reach the peak!
On Febuary 25, social medias were taken by storm with a debate that somewhat altered our vision of what is real in our collective consciousness. The story of the dress first appeared on Tumblr by a user named ‘‘swiked’’ who said that her friends could not agree on its colors. Some said that it was gold and white, others insisted that it was black and blue. Soon after that, the debate went viral.
What is interesting to note, is that on that same day, the Sun was applying to conjunct Neptune with the exact conjunction happening the following day at 7 degrees of Pisces. Neptune takes approximately 164 years to come full circle. It is currently in Pisces the sign that it governs so it is ‘’at home’’ and it will remain in that sign until 2024.
Neptune is associated with dissolving boundaries, creating illusions, the subjective perception of reality, self-deception, ambiguity, vagueness, fog, projection and confusion. Neptune’s realm is all encompassing and vanishingly subtle. It dissolves the fragile structures of our perceptions bringing us back to a timeless and mysterious source where we drink from the well of the anima mundi. As for the Sun it is associated with the conscious ego and the creative spark. It is masculine or yang in essence and it is the giver of life and at the center of our solar system. It allows us to exist here on earth.
The debate over the colour of the dress, illustrates perfectly what happens when the Sun enters the fog of Neptune like it did with the conjunction of Febuary 26. What is the REAL colour of this dress? What is REAL? How do I know that what I see is actually there and not imagined?
A series of articles ensued with various theory as to WHY not everyone could agree on the colour. Some stated that it was due to the colour settings of their computers while others said it was an optical illusion. There even was a theory about an Illuminati conspiracy aimed at distracting us. It was finally agreed (with scientific expertise) that it had something to do with individual perception of colours and that the dress was actually black and blue…or was it really…?
More importantly, what this debate brought to us collectively is the awarness of individual experience in shaping our reality. It has made us question and reflect on the nature of our perception. The beautifully orchestred dance of the Sun joining with Neptune on that day reflected sychronistically within our own collective and individual psyche.
The current astrological weather has the potential to infuse our perceptions with a dreamlike quality. You could find yourself dedicated to a higher ideal (Saturn in Sagittarius) or having faith in something which hasn’t been made ”real” yet.
Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces is like the thousand faces of a headless god, elusive but powerfull. One minute you are sure footed the next you are submerge by indescribable sensations, seeing with the eyes of a poet, a prophet, a drunk. Your judgment skewed by the intoxication of an idea, a lover, a substance, an experience. Information is pouring in from all sources, where is it coming from?
Here are exemples that reflects the astrological landscape:
