Week of July 25th 2016

Hi everyone!

I am back to my astrology practice after a 4 months hiatus. I will continue to keep my approach to social media as intuitive as possible, meaning I do not want to spend my days sitting at my computer. But I will be updating and participating here more often now that I have more time to write.

I am also back to my consulting practice full-time if you want to book a reading via skype or order a pre-recorded reading from me. You can find more information about my offerings and book a reading ☞ here.

The astrology for the week is keeping us at the edge of our seat. There is a lot of shifting and churning happening on an internal level but also on the world stage. I think we can all feel/intuit that this period is an important historical turning point. (In our personal story and worldwide).

I feel like it’s essential to stay present and to not let anxiety creep up. Especially with the media and information overload hyping up all the drama, war and violence. Everyone is craving simplicity and there is also need to put some sort of ”buffer zone” around our psychic space. This can be difficult when we connect all day long to each other and the ”interweb”. A lot of people around me are keeping up a meditation or prayer practice in one form or another to stay centered.

Hope everyone is doing good and finding some quiet time with friends, in nature or whatever else makes you feel whole.

Anxiety

With the upcoming Full Moon in Virgo on the 22nd of February and more extensively with the transit of Jupiter in Virgo and the Nodes of the Moon on the Virgo/Pisces axis, where most of the eclipses will happen this year it seems like anxiety is on everyone’s lips.

Chronic anxiety has become a modern epidemic affecting millions of people. We can never be good enough for the standards of perfection. The pressure is to be productive, efficient, beautiful, healthy, active, successful, driven but relaxed AND happy. How is it even possible to breath through this type of burden? With the increasing speed of life through technology, we are wired, stimulated and constantly comparing ourselves to an imagined standard of perfection. This is a very cruel and deceitful game.

Putting pressure on ourselves is fantastic to accomplish some of our goals. But we also have to accept that perfection is not the ultimate goal and that life is perfect in all of its messiness.

In their 20 years of treating and studying trauma survivors, Drs. Dennis Charney and Steven Southwick have identified ten common practices in people who have shown resilience in the face of extreme stress.

• Maintaining an optimistic but realistic outlook
• Reliance upon own inner, moral compass
• Turning to religious or spiritual practices
• Seeking and accepting social support
• Imitation of sturdy role models
• Staying physically fit
• Staying mentally sharp
• Cognitive and emotional flexibility (finding a way to accept that which cannot be changed)
• Looking for meaning and opportunity in the midst of adversity
• Facing fear (ability to confront one’s fears)

The Full Moon in Virgo on Monday might increase our desire to have everything perfectly compartmentalized. But with the Sun in Pisces we might also need to know when surrendering to the tides is necessary.

We are in a relatively calm period and March will pick up speed again. Take advantage of this time to get yourself in order and prevent possible stressors down the road. Get rid of unnecessary pressure or accumulated responsibilities and BREATH.

Fall Equinox: An unacknowledge feeling of specialness

The Sun just moved into Libra and the Moon is in Aquarius.

Libra and Aquarius are both Air signs which favor intellect and reflection above emotional display. But if we scratch the surface, we can see that the appearances are deceiving at the moment.

The ruler of Libra is Venus. Venus is in the sign of Leo a Fixed Fire sign.
Both the traditional ruler of Aquarius: Saturn and its modern ruler: Uranus are also in Fire signs. Saturn just moved into Sagittarius a Mutable Fire sign and Uranus is in the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries.

We could be maintaining an air of polite detachment while some big internal changes are happening.
We could also feel like we are unjustly being excluded from the action. The desire for warmth exchange, community and friendship might be strong but it doesn’t come easily. Our specialness is left unrecognized. A sense of isolation or frustration around not being seen for who we are.

We are prompt to stay cool-headed and diplomatic to keep the relationships that we have. Wanting real communication while simultaneously not being able to say everything. The want for company and partnership is strong but the wish to have it our way might be stronger.

The amount of egoic desires we bring in our relationships might determine their quality.

We are walking the line between participation and exclusion. And you might be the one excluding yourself or burning bridges.

The conversation is also happening on a collective scale. Heated debates and words like: ”alien” is use to describe migrants and refugees. There is a need to find creative ways to deal with the global community.

Who belongs where and who was here first? Races and religions are at the forefront. How long can we stay diplomatic? The need to discard some old dogmatic beliefs has come. This is a period of change and the best way to deal with change is by staying flexible. It is important to  remember our role as individuals in affecting those changes whether it is in the choices we make as consumers or in our contribution to society.

New Moon in Taurus

We have a New Moon Sunday night at 26º of Taurus, right ON Fixed star Caput Algol also known as the severed head of Medusa. (For more on Medusa) This could represent a time of ambiguity between the established and comfortable order of the known and what terrifies us.  But I don’t know enough about Mesusa’s myth to venture on that one.  The Medieval astrologers interpreted Algol in terms of losing one’s head literally but we could also take it in the metaphorical sense.

This New Moon is happening at the end of the fixed sign of Taurus which represents the well established Spring season. Taurus is an Earth sign concerned with accumulating resources and experiencing life through the five senses. The bull has a sensual and primal nature. A New Moon is a good time to set  intentions for the month ahead. Set your intentions around anything related to your physical well being and how you go about bringing comfort and ease into your physical space. It doesn’t have to be complicated, in fact simplicity is the key with Taurus (don’t lose your head over this!).  It can be about creating a beautiful living space (Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus and she is in Cancer right now) or  gardening projects for the coming summer season. How you go about setting up a safe oasis for yourself either externally or internally will help in how you cope with future stress.

We are moving along nicely into  mutable energy, with Mercury in Gemini going retrograde on May 18 , and the Sun is going into the sign of the twins on May 21.  Things that appeared to be congealed or stuck are moving ahead and soon the pace will pick up. Don’t be fooled by the apparent stillness and soak in the peace while it passes.

Nourish the body, find contentment and beauty for a moment.
